When in Doubt...

...go to the source of all truth.

I can't believe how many people - myself included - will read a blog like this one and call it good. If I can do anything, be anything, it is to motivate someone I love or someone I don't even know yet, to seek Christ.

There are a lot of books on Christ on the internet - mine included. But the best books out there about Christ have been written by Him through prophets of God. It isn't enough to know about him through the eyes of other truth seekers it's more important to know Him directly through scripture reading and prayer.

If any of my inspirational books can do that - motivate the person reading them to go to the source of all truth in the scriptures and through prayer and personal revelation, then I have been successful.

When you see me promoting an inspirational book about Christ or about getting closer to Him know that my greatest desire is for you to find Him, and if you've already found Him to draw closer to Him.

May you have a blessed day.

When Doubt Strikes in Writing

Sometimes, even after we've published, we find ourselves doubting our own abilities.

Sure, I've published a book, but maybe it was a fluke.
What if I don't have another book in me?
What if the book...sucks?

I have had a somewhat doubting week, yes, even after the fantastic conference.

And I think we all do that.

There are so many writers, so many ideas that may contradict what you have learned what you've come to know, that you may find yourself scrambling for the truth.

Doubt is the opposite of truth. So is fear.

And I can't help but think that we often shut ourselves down because the other option is too scary.

Will I have to speak to large groups now that I've published?
Will readers expect my next book to be as good, or better?
Will I have to actually market?

My new book coming out Sept. 30
Yes, yes, and yes.

If the truth be known, and this is the truth at least for me; I am always learning. Just because I've published doesn't mean I won't learn something new, or change what I am currently doing to make it better. The truth is, I don't want to live in doubt, and the best way I know not to live there, is to continue to move forward.

An easy task?

Not usually.

How much to do you want it?

When in Doubt--Write!

When you're in doubt about your writing, consider this:

You probably know at least one person who has told you that they're going to write a book but they haven't done it yet. And if you're writing at all, you're doing more than they are.

So many people want to be writers, but they don't get beyond the dreaming stage. Either they're too busy, not interested enough to get started, or like the thought of being an author without having to do anything.

Perhaps they're thinking of the perks. Seeing their name in print. Making some money. Walking into a bookstore and seeing their book.

But being a writer is so much more than that.

It's coming up with unique and interesting characters and a plot that can take these characters through a story. It is knowing enough about dialogue and setting to balance it on paper. It's knowing a bit about grammar and rewrites, chapter headings and book titles to get a reader interested and to keep them reading.

If you're in doubt about whether or not you're a 'real' writer, if you're writing a short story, an article for a magazine or a poem, consider yourself a writer.

No, you don't need to be published by Random House. You just need to write.

What do you write? Share it below along with a link to your site! Yes, I am asking you to add a link so that we can see what you do and make a comment.
