Hay Fever? Cold? Your Guess is as good as mine

A couple of days ago I felt a bit - sneezy. And then, quite frankly, my head hurt some, but I felt I could still maneuver my regular day. That was until yesterday. What I thought was merely - hay fever

- was something else, a cold.

Maybe you've been through this very same scenario, thinking one thing when in fact it was another. I have gravitated to much more sneezing and coughing and feeling miserable since then, but I'm not telling you this to complain.

Seems to me, even in writing, we aren't quite sure what we're writing at times, but we go will the flow (pardon my pun) simply because the words are coming and we are on a roll. I had this happen with my first book, A River of Stones. I thought, quite frankly, that I was merely recording my thoughts about how it felt to have parents divorce, when in fact I had begun to outline, even to write sections, of my first book.

I have thought the same thing as I've begun writing prompts in writing classes, thought about those Nancy Drew mystery books I read as a teenager (weren't they great, and wouldn't a mystery be a fine thing to write?) I have begun one thing, only to realize it was really another - even a publishable other.

When it comes to hay fever, I can live through that, though my eyes may drip and my throat my fog up. I can even live with a full blown cold - especially if it takes me somewhere else, because that somewhere else is exactly where I want to be.

Happy Writing!

Summer Writing

Summer writing this year will be taking a different course. Usually I spend quite a bit of time writing, but this year my grandchildren from Texas will be making their way over to spend the summer with us.

Writing (for the most part) will just have to wait.

I see myself spending most of my waking hours going to the park, snuggling on the couch, or making many visits to the local fun places. I guess you could say that come June 7, I will be spending most of my time making memories for future use in a book I may not have even dreamed up yet.

And I think it's safe to say that I will be okay with that - besides, I still have my mentoring sessions with authors, and, believe it or not, a book to get ready for a September release.

So, wish me luck, and please, PLEASE, let me know if I can schedule you for an author or character interview (or both) for September.

Happy Writing!

Hopping and Hoping

Happy Easter everyone!

Tomorrow's the big day and today we're taking the grandchildren out for some fun! What, did you hear it? All of those bunnies? Hopping? All of those eggs, wiggling?

What? You saw some chocolate?

If you're doing what we're doing today, or maybe doing some hunting tomorrow, remember that memories can bring in great ideas, and I'm always in for some great ideas!

So Happy Easter! And don't forget to remember the most important reason we celebrate the big day!
